Is Acuvue Oasys 1-Day Good for Dry Eyes and High Screen Time?
For wearers who spend long hours on digital devices and experience dry eye symptoms, Acuvue Oasys 1-Day was specifically designed with this combination in mind.
The Screen-Dryness Connection
Prolonged screen use reduces blink rate from a normal 15–20 blinks per minute to as few as 5–7 blinks per minute. Each blink refreshes the tear film across the lens surface — so fewer blinks means faster tear film evaporation, progressive lens surface drying, and the end-of-day discomfort familiar to screen-using contact lens wearers.
How HydraLuxe® Addresses This
HydraLuxe® Technology creates an interconnected network of tear-like molecules that integrates directly with the eye's natural mucin layer — the component of the tear film responsible for holding moisture against the eye's surface. By reinforcing this layer, HydraLuxe® helps resist accelerated evaporation during reduced-blink screen use. This is a meaningfully different approach from simply embedding a wetting agent — rather than replacing the tear film, HydraLuxe® works with it.
High Oxygen Permeability for Eye Health
The Senofilcon A silicone hydrogel delivers a Dk/t of 121, ensuring healthy corneal oxygenation throughout up to 16 hours of daily wear. Adequate corneal oxygenation supports the health of corneal surface cells that produce the mucin layer of the tear film — supporting a more stable natural tear film and in turn more comfortable lens wear.
Class 1 UV Protection
For wearers who split their day between screens indoors and outdoor activities, Class 1 UV protection (>99% UVB, >96% UVA) provides meaningful UV defense during outdoor exposure. Note: contact lenses do not cover the entire eye — UV-protective sunglasses should still be worn outdoors.
Clinical dry eye disease may require additional management — lubricating drops or professional dry eye treatment — alongside lens selection. Always consult your eye care professional.
